Productivity!
Since I just posted my first deviation in about a month yesterday, and then – gasp! – another one today, I remembered that I actually like being productive. However, whenever I make any sort of specific goal to do with how often I complete a piece of artwork (eg. once per day/week/etc.), I inevitably end up burning myself out and completely neglecting my artwork altogether. I don’t like that.
I ended up realizing that, by setting such a goal for myself for no reason, it ends up being counterproductive because I inevitably pressure myself to try and come up with something, just for the sake of doing something. I do my artwork and have joined DeviantArt because it brings me joy. For me, and anyone else who operates the way that I do, we need to realize that we don’t necessarily need to work on any sort of set schedule. If setting an arbitrary deadline for yourself sucks all the joy of drawing right out of you, then don’t set one. All we need is to create whatever we want, whenever we want, because we love to create.

She Needs a Name!
I don’t have a Core Membership, so I can’t start a poll on this. So comment on this journal if you feel like giving your input! See my deviation ‘Seedrian Sisters’ for reference. 
My sister wants to rename her fancharacter. She used to be named Sumowa, but she feels like giving her a name more suited to the character. Here are the options we’re considering:
- Lily (or any alternative spelling)
- Calla (which is the type of lily on her hair)
- Aurora (for the aurora borealis/australis, a colourful, natural light phenomenon in Earth’s upper atmosphere)
The third option is more of a nostalgia thing for us. This character used to have all the colours of the rainbow in her original design, and there was an obvious ‘mother nature’ theme going on. Plus it’s just a pretty name.

My name is Elena, and I’m a 22 year-old living in a small but historically-rich Canadian town. Art has always been a huge passion for me (as it is for everyone here I’m sure ^.^), and I’m really excited to be reconnecting with this awesome community. I joined dA nearly ten years ago under a different account, but it had been abandoned for a few years, and since deactivated. Since that time, I continued to develop my skills, and began to sell my artwork part-time on Etsy. However, I’ve always missed dA, and eventually regretted leaving. So, I figured a fresh new start was in order, and I sure am glad to be back.
I can’t wait to get back in touch with all of the amazing people here, as well as share all of my hopes, dreams, and interests along the way. I can’t wait to get to know you all! Be seeing you!
